As part of the high-tech collection system that the sanitation department uses each cart will be embedded with a radio frequency identification chip (RFID) and bar codes. The chip will allow our Public Works Department to monitor how often residents roll carts to the curb for collection as well as be able to identify stolen carts or carts that have been blown away during severe weather.
